Metro Beach Play Structure
|On Wednesday we visited Metro Beach which is part of Huron-Clinton Metro Parks. Annual passes are $25 for this year (2011) and are good at all the Huron-Clinton Metro Parks. The kids had such a wonderful time even though I was a nervous wreck trying to keep track of the two of them.
There is a fence around a majority of the playground, but I have to say, I would have felt one thousand times better about it had there not been two huge gaps, one near the parking lot and one going to the beach. It seems like it would be a lot safer to have the fence go all the way around the playground and install gates at entry points.
There is so much for the kids to do an explore. The playground consists of five different climbing structures (including a mini pirate ship), a play maze, swings, rocking horses and cars and three houses for dramatic play.
At 23 months, Rosa was able to navigate almost everything with little to no assistance, although that didn’t prevent me from wanting to be there to spot her on some of the more difficult climbing equipment.
They spent a significant amount of time on the slides and swings. Rosa enjoyed playing in the houses and they both seemed to just gloss over the maze.
There is a giant section with just sand in the middle of the playground. Next time I will need to remember to bring along their sand toys.
Metro Beach has so much more to offer, but the kids had so much fun just on the playground that we didn’t get to venture off to and do much else. We did visit the splash zone, but I will wait to post about that until I get some more pictures.
