About Metro Detroit Mommy

A Little About Metro Detroit Mommy:

Welcome to Metro Detroit Mommy, I’m Amber Louchart, your local guide to finding places to play and activities that are fun and safe for you and your children.

Metro Detroit Mommy was created in November of 2010.  My ex-husband and I were looking for an indoor play place to take our daughter, Rosaleigh.  As we were searching on our separate computers, racing to be the first to find the right place to visit, I thought to myself, “Why isn’t there a website with all this information?”  And Metro Detroit Mommy was born.

Creating this kind of website was such a natural step for me after creating The Activity Idea Place in 1998 (a page about early childhood lesson plans), and is truly a labor of love. I have created a one-stop-shop for family activities to save you time and the frustration of always trying to come up with new experiences for your children to enjoy.   Metro Detroit Mommy’s first review was of Jungle Java in Farmington Hills and since then I have traveled all over the Metro Detroit Area to try out bounce houses, cider mills, splash pads and so much more.    Metro Detroit Mommy has evolved into a place for me to support and promote local child-centered businesses and events.

Metro Detroit Mommy is a family-focused platform that provides resources, events, and activity guides for families in the Metro Detroit area. It features articles, recommendations, and event listings to help families find fun, educational, and family-friendly activities. The platform highlights local attractions, seasonal events, dining spots, indoor and outdoor play areas, and community happenings, catering specifically to parents and caregivers looking for ways to engage with their children and explore the region. It’s a go-to source for discovering family-oriented experiences around Detroit and its suburbs.

Wayne RESA - GSRP

Great Start Readiness Program is a Michigan state-funded preschool program for four-year-old children with factors which may place them at risk of educational failure. The program is administered by the Michigan Department of Education, Office of Great Start. Funding is allocated to Wayne RESA to administer the program locally. Research on preschool programs and specific research on GSRP indicates that children provided with a high-quality preschool experience show significant positive developmental differences when compared to children from the same backgrounds who did not attend a high-quality preschool program.
