Michigan fruit and vegetable farms usually start in May and some run until November. Summer berries are typically available from June through September. The best time to pick raspberries is from July until October. While the strawberry season is in June. Blueberries are generally available from the end of July until the end of August. And finally, blackberry season is from early June until the end of July.
There is nothing like a fresh tomato on your salad or sandwich. They are typically available throughout August and September. And even though watermelon is thought to be a summer crop, they don’t come ripe until August in Michigan.

Blake’s Farms has enough to do to fill an entire day. Along with a hay ride into the U-Pick apple orchard, Blakes also offers a fun land, a farm store and bakery, and a tasting room. Kids of all ages will love the Funland, which is dozens of activities spread out over acres of land. A petting zoo, along with animal feed for purchase, a giant blob trampoline, carnival-type attractions such as a black hole space tunnel, along with haunted houses and hayrides in autumn are only a few. Blake’s also offers a tasting room, which is a full, family friendly restaurant featuring brewed on-site craft hard ciders and beers.

Blake’s Big Apple opens in June, kicking off with their U-Pick strawberry farm. In the fall, they take Halloween seriously, with a Zombie Paintball Experience, and a three story haunted barn. During the day, visitors can visit their store for traditional cider, donuts, caramel apples, fudge, and more.

Hy’s Cider Mill opened in the early 1900’s, and has been run by the same family since its inception. Along with 13 apple varieties in its orchard, Hy’s also has a farm store where their apples can be bought by the bushel, and cider and donuts can be enjoyed before or after apple picking.

Miller’s Big Red has the distinction of being the oldest orchard in Michigan, with U-Pick apples, strawberries, pumpkins, and raspberries. A corn maze, pony rides, a rock wall, petting zoo, in addition to a traditional cider mill round out the fun.
