A Northville fall tradition since 1873, Parmenter’s is perfect for families looking for that classic cider mill experience. Grab fresh cider and donuts, then head toward the back of the property where kids can play, visit the ducks and take a walk along the river. If you visit earlier in the day on select days, you may even catch a glimpse of the cider being pressed.

Along with cider and donuts, you’ll find caramel apples, fudge, roasted almonds and other fall treats. On weekends, the Chow Mill serves hot dogs and kielbasa. Parents can also stop by Northville Winery & Brewing Co. next door for locally made hard cider, beer and wine, plus live music and food trucks on select days.

Yates Cider Mill

Blakes Orchard and Cider Mill

If you’re looking for more than just cider and donuts, Blake’s is one of the biggest fall destinations in Metro Detroit. The 120-acre family-owned farm has been around since 1946 and combines the classic cider mill experience with apple picking and tons of family activities.

During the fall season, families can pick their own apples, explore Funland with 25+ activities, visit the animals, tackle the corn maze and enjoy wagon or train rides through the orchard. Stop by the original cider mill to watch the open-air apple press, then grab fresh cider, donuts and other treats from the farm market and bakery.

There’s plenty for adults, too, with Blake’s Tasting Room serving their own hard cider, beer and wine along with a full food menu.

Once the Fun Farm is fully open for the season, admission includes the corn maze, hayrides, giant hill slide, jumping pillows, pedal kart track, multiple play structures, a petting farm, straw maze, corn box, spider web and more. Kids can also try the apple cannon for an additional charge. During pumpkin season, take the hayride out to the patch and pick your own pumpkin to bring home.

Spicer Orchards Farm Market and Cider Mill – Fenton

The play area includes a tree fort, pirate ship, castle, giant and tube slides, large play structure, farm animals and more. There’s also a corn maze, wagon rides, train rides and seasonal hayrides, with additional activities and vendors on select fall weekends.

Adults can stop by the on-site winery for hard cider, wine and other drinks after a day at the orchard.

Westview Orchards

Westview Orchards is a great choice for families who want plenty to do beyond grabbing cider and donuts. The farm has been family-owned for more than 200 years and combines a classic cider mill and farm market with U-pick apples, a huge play area and tons of fall activities.

During Fall Fun Weekends, kids can explore the 3-acre playground, climb the Straw Mountain, Rope Mountain and Tire Mountain, race down the 40-foot slide, visit the farm animals, bounce on the jumping pad and make their way through the corn maze and straw bale maze. Wagon rides are also included in the fall fun.

Don’t skip the Farm Market & Bakery for fresh cider and their huge selection of donuts, including classic cider mill donuts and fun seasonal flavors. Parents can also stop by the on-site winery, located in a historic 1850s barn.
