The Best Cider and Donuts in Metro Detroit

If you are just looking to grab some great donuts and apple cider and go, then these are some great places to visit.

Franklin Cider Mill

7450 Franklin Rd, Franklin
248-626-8261

The Franklin Cider Mill is a National Historic Site located next to Franklin Village. Opened in 1837 as a gristmill, the mill became a cider mill in the early 1900s serving apple orchards in Bloomfield and Farmington.

In addition to their award-winning apple cider, their unique donuts are served hot and crispy as the perfect pairing with our cold or hot cider. Schools, families, and businesses meet at the mill to sit by the river, enjoy the Mill’s famous ducks and our peaceful setting. Individual and group visitors often request the story of the Mill’s rich history.

On weekends, Franklin Cider Mill hosts a variety of activities for children and adults including a mellow jazz concert where children can play the instruments and dance in the bubbles, a magical magician, talented face painters, a big tractor to climb on for memorable pictures, and the huge original water wheel that once powered the mill.  Cider dogs (hot dogs marinated in cider) and fresh roasted corn on the cob are extra special weekend treats for young and old(er) visitors.

The Mill opens on the Saturday before Labor Day and closes the Sunday after Thanksgiving, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM (in November, the mill closes at 5:30 PM).
