This is one of my favorite apple recipes, and a family favorite too. I love how the brown sugar in the recipe caramelizes to create a butterscotch flavor. Plus, when we bake these, the whole house smells wonderful.
The recipe is rather easy… hope you enjoy.
Ingredients:
2 cups firmly packed dark brown sugar
1 cup butter, melted
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 cups peeled and diced apples
1 package of butterscotch chips
Preparation
1. Preheat oven to 350º.
2. Stir together brown sugar, butter, eggs and vanilla extract
3. Stir together flour baking powder and salt.
4. Slowly add the flour mixture to the brown sugar mixture, and stir until blended.
5. Stir in apples and butterscotch chips.
6. Pour batter into a greased and floured 13- x 9-inch pan and spread in an even layer.
7. Bake at 350º for 35 to 45 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
8. Cool completely (about 1 hour) {This is a very important step.. don’t skip it. The brownies will have a completely different texture and flavor after they cool.}. Cut into bars and enjoy.
