Sumo Battle Robots 1 Day Camp – Birmingham

  • Description: This 1-day camp taps into a camper’s love of LEGO by providing a structured day of coding and building workshops that are as fun for the robotics novice as the expert. Campers will use LEGO Mindstorms and LEGO WeDo robotics (depending on age) to build, design, and code robots.  1 robot per camper which enables kids to work at their own level.  Campers will get to drive their robots in fierce robotics sumo battles towards the end of the day.

  • Description: This 1-day camp taps into a camper’s love of video games and Minecraft with a combination of theme-related robotic building and computer coding workshops.  Younger campers will use WeDo robotics and older campers will use Mindstorms robotics. Kids are definitely not on screens all day and a typical day includes 3 to 4 different workshops. No experience necessary. Love of Minecraft is great but we get kids who know nothing about the game too!  All are welcome.

  • Description: Come hang out and play Minecraft on our custom server. There will be both survival and creative areas to enjoy either with individual play or with friends. Get your own space on our server so your work will be saved for the future or play on our group server with other kids who attend this event. Play at your own level and explore all the aspects of a multi-player MineCraft experience within the safe controlled environment of The Robot Garage. 
  • Students may pack dinner and a water bottle or sign up for Pizza for $6 per student.

Wonderful Winter Outdoor Activity – Detroit

  • Description: Saturdays, Jan. 4 through Feb. 29. Join us outside at the OAC for a fun winter activity. From ice fishing and snowshoeing to snow Pictionary and sledding, these are all activities that can be enjoyed right outside our front door, and across the state. Our activities will be weather and condition-dependent. Check the OAC Facebook page for the most up-to-date information. Throw your winter gear in the car, just in case!

Walking Down a Food Chain with Leslie Science and Nature Center – Detroit

  • Description: Together we will construct a live food chain as participants meet a raptor, reptile, amphibian, arachnid and an insect. Along the way we discuss how these animals’ lives are connected and learn about the delicate balance that allows them to survive both individually and together as wildlife who share a habitat. Science Olympiad Workshop: Weather or Not – Detroit

  • Description: This workshop is designed specifically for students competing in the Elementary-Level Science Olympiad. The workshop will run for one to one and a half hours and will cover this year’s relevant content and include a practice test. Each child attending must be accompanied by an adult. This workshop is intended for competing students and parents and/or coaches only. Participants must sign in and pick up a wrist band at the front desk.

Metro Parent Camp Expo – Bloomfield Hills

Learn how to pitch a tent, build a campfire, and roast marshmallows. We provide everything for an evening of fun: games and activities for the entire family – s’mores, and a pancake breakfast. Children of all ages are welcome with adult supervision. Each site can accommodate up to six people with an eight-person tent. Please email us with your tent dimensions if you have an oversized tent. Don’t forget to pack a sleeping bag, air mattress and pillow! A limited number of loaner tents are available (be sure to register separately for a loaner tent).
