If you are looking for an amazing new playground to try out, then you should check out the Lower Huron Metropark Playground. The $1.3 million playground is incredible and features a space themed play area for children of all abilities ages 2 through 12.
Lower Huron Metro Park Playground Space Theme Structure
The Woods Creek Playground at Lower Huron Metro Park opened in the fall of 2021. Situated near the Turtle Cove Aquatic Center makes this an amazing summer destination. However, guests may enjoy the facility throughout the year.
The new space theme playground contains various zones that include Earth, Mars, Venus, and the surrounding Galaxy. The area includes over 5,300 square feet of play space with benches, picnic tables, as well as shade structures around the playground.
The highlight of the playground, Planet Venus, features an enormous cabled climbing structure. After climbing to the top, children can enjoy a unique viewing area and a 17-foot tall slide.
The Mars play area is designed for children ages two through five. The play structure features climbers, slides, play spaces and lookouts. In addition to the structure, the area includes a dome climber, group spinner, tot swings and harness swings.
Guests ages 5-12 will love the Galaxy Zone. This area features an accessible space station. Children can use the ramps that lead to a small accessible rocking spaceship, a sensory tunnel, various play panels as well as climbers. This area also includes a four person rocker, wheel chair accessible spinner, and single person spinner.
The play area includes a variety of swings including traditional swings, bucket, ada swings and also a flat saucer swing.
Ammenities at Lower Huron Metropark
In addition to the amazing new play structure, guests can also enjoy several sports, outdoor activties, picnicing, and camping. If you enjoy sports, then check out the basketball, tennis and volleyball courts. Guests can also enjoy biking trails and softball fields. The park offers hiking and cross-country skiing too. In the summer, the Turtle Cove Family Aquatic Center is the perfect space to cool off with a splash pad and waterslide. Finally, guests will find seasonal restrooms throughout the space.
