Summer is my favorite season. We love to spend plenty of time outside soaking up the summer rays and enjoying the long summer nights. Free outdoor concerts all around Metro Detroit make the summer even more special providing families the opportunity to spend quality time together. I am so thrilled to team up with my favorite local websites to bring you a list that covers five counties of great concerts this summer in southeast Michigan.

Outdoor Summer Concerts: What to Wear? What to Bring?
Perhaps now more than ever, the ability to spend a summer evening outside with loved ones and live music is not something we will take for granted. But how to you make sure you’re prepared to be able to fully enjoy the experience?
Clothing
Attire is casual, at most business casual. Summer evenings can be unpredictable, 75 and sunny can feel a lot different than 75 after the sun goes down. Bring a sweater or sweatshirt, especially for little ones.
Seating
Plan to bring your own seating. Camping chairs and blankets are ideal. Bringing one more blanket than necessary is often a good bet.
Food
Occasionally concessions are available, but it is better to plan ahead and bring water and snacks, or even a full picnic dinner. Just keep in mind that more than likely there will not be tables.
Keeping the Little Ones Happy
Remember the attention span of small children and be prepared with drinks, snacks, and activities such as bubbles, board games, coloring books, and outdoor toys. Plan ahead for the possibility that bathrooms may not be available.
Vanessa is a mom to six crazy and fun boys. She assists her husband in running their family’s nonprofit organization, Chosen Kingdom Builders, that provides housing and mentorship to young adults who have come out of the foster care system. She loves writing, and finds that sitting at the computer creating for Metro Detroit Mommy is the “me time” this boy mom needs. Her Covid hobbies include wondering if she will ever vacation again, and staring out the window dreaming of all-inclusive resorts.
