When was the last time you truly slowed down?
Not while scrolling your phone. Not during a rushed coffee run. Not while watching the kids play at the park.
We’re talking about the kind of deep breath that reminds you what it feels like to simply exist.
That’s exactly what you’ll find at the Barefoot & Free Yoga Festival, returning to Proud Lake Recreation Area in Commerce Township August 7–9. But don’t let the word yoga fool you – this isn’t just a weekend of yoga classes. It’s an immersive wellness festival designed to help you reconnect with yourself, your family, nature, and your community.

More Than a Yoga Festival
The Barefoot & Free Yoga Festival was created around one simple idea: creating space to come back to yourself.
Set among the woods and trails of Proud Lake Recreation Area, the festival blends movement, music, healing, creativity, and meaningful connection. Spend your weekend taking a yoga class beneath the trees, wandering the vendor village, listening to live music, relaxing by the water, or simply laying in the grass doing absolutely nothing—and that’s completely encouraged.
Whether you’re an experienced yogi or have never stepped onto a yoga mat before, classes are designed for every experience level.
Throughout the weekend you’ll discover experiences including:
- Yoga classes for every level
- Breathwork and meditation
- Sound healing
- Wellness workshops
- Women’s circles
- Nature walks
- Live music and ecstatic dance
- Artisan shopping
- Nourishing food vendors
- Community gatherings
- Optional horseback trail rides and specialty experiences available with advance registration.
There truly isn’t one “right” way to experience Barefoot & Free. Fill your schedule with classes—or leave plenty of room for spontaneous moments. Take a look at the itinerary here.
Yes—It’s Truly Family Friendly
One of the things we love most about Barefoot & Free is that families don’t have to choose between spending time together and making time for themselves.
Kids are genuinely part of the experience.
The festival features a dedicated Pixie Playground with children’s programming happening throughout the weekend, plus childcare offered during select sessions so parents can enjoy classes knowing their little ones are having fun too.

Fill Your Cup While the Kids Make Memories
As moms, we’re constantly pouring into everyone around us.
Barefoot & Free is a reminder that you deserve to refill your own cup, too.
Maybe that looks like joining a peaceful morning yoga flow.
Maybe it’s experiencing a sound bath, trying breathwork for the first time, or attending a workshop focused on nervous system regulation.
Maybe it’s dancing barefoot during an evening music set, browsing handcrafted goods from local vendors, or simply sitting under the trees with nowhere you have to be.
However your nervous system needs to recharge, this festival gives you permission to do it.
Come Solo, With Friends, or Bring the Whole Family
One of the most beautiful parts of Barefoot & Free is that every visit looks a little different.
Come with your best girlfriends for the ultimate wellness weekend.
Bring your spouse and kids for an unforgettable family adventure.
Or come by yourself and enjoy a weekend focused entirely on you.
However you choose to experience it, you’ll leave feeling lighter than when you arrived.

Choose the Experience That Fits Your Weekend
One of the best things about the Barefoot & Free Yoga Festival is that you don’t have to commit to an entire weekend if it doesn’t fit your schedule.
Whether you’re curious to experience the festival for a single day or you’re ready to fully immerse yourself in the weekend, there are several ticket options to choose from.
Weekend Passes are perfect if you want the full Barefoot & Free Yoga Festival experience. You’ll have all-weekend access to classes, workshops, live music, wellness experiences, and the vendor village, with the flexibility to come and go throughout the festival.
Short on time? Day Passes let you enjoy everything happening on the day you choose, making it easy to experience the festival even if you can’t stay all weekend.
Bringing the kids? Kids Passes are available, giving children access to family-friendly programming throughout the weekend, including the Pixie Playground, kids yoga, family movement classes, and more. Childcare is also available during select sessions, allowing parents to enjoy a class or workshop while their little ones are cared for nearby.
