Board and Brush Creative Studio in Sylvan Lake is a DIY space where guests can learn how to create amazing wood crafts and more. Instructors lead the participants step by step through the process of creating a project from scratch. During the workshops in their 1800 square foot space, guests can distress, stain, paint and create a masterpiece they will be proud to hang in their home. Location and Hours
This do-it-yourself woodworking studio is located at 2678 Orchard Lake Road in Sylvan Lake. Their location, within miles of I-75, Telegraph, and M-59 makes Board & Brush a great central metro Detroit venue for your next event.
They are available seven days a week for workshops. It is important to note that there are several workshop times during the week that are open to everyone. However, pre-registration is required. It is not necessary to book a private party to participate in the “Pick your Project” workshops, you can even attend solo if you like.
Pricing
The typical “Pick Your Project” workshops are just $68 and include everything you need to create a beautiful wood project to hang in your home or gift to a friend or family member. Most workshops are designed for ages 16 and up.

My Experience
We participated in a “Pick Your Project” workshop on a Wednesday night. We shared the space with a small birthday party and had an amazing time. Board & Brush is a BYOB & snacks establishment, so that adds to the fun, being able to sip and nibble while working on our creations.
Most of the projects that are available are customizable, so you can create something special that fits your family to a tee. However, that means that the studio needs time to prepare your craft ahead of time, so pre-registration is required.
The instructors were amazing. The explained each step clearly so everyone was able to follow along. The ladies helped just enough, but not too much, and gave helpful tips, advice and even aided in fixing a couple of our oops moments.
Overall, I had an amazing time and I cannot wait to go back again. I simply love the boards that everyone made during our workshop. Also, I picked up some skills I will use when I make the barn doors for my bedroom. I highly recommend booking a workshop here for your next night out.
