Winter Wonderland is a special event, only available for a limited time at the Edsel & Eleanor Ford House. Our family was invited to attend, free of charge, so we could share our experience with you.
Families can enjoy a stroll on the grounds which is decorated with thousands of lights. The mile long path will take you past luminaries, fire pits, a story teller, carolers, and there are opportunities to enjoy hot cocoa, mulled cider, popcorn and other treats. (additional fees may apply)
Local schools participate in a tree decorating contest. Guests are able to vote for their favorite tree along the path.
Santa and Mrs. Claus await guests in the garage, children can get their picture taken with them and write a letter to Santa too.
The walk was amazing. This was our second time attending and both times we felt like we practically had the place to ourselves. With children aged 7, 4 and 1, it took us about 2 hours to enjoy both the grounds and the house tour.
Guests with younger children should note that parts of the path is made of gravel and not easily traversed with a stroller.
The House Tour is amazing and well worth the extra money.
The Ford House is decorated for Christmas with many glorious trees, but this is also a great chance to get a glimpse into the home and life of the Ford Family. Everything in the home (except the holiday decor) is original. Spectacular paintings, furniture, decor, it is simply amazing.
The docents are also amazing. Their knowledge of the Ford Family and the stories that they share are noteworthy. Because this is a self guided tour, you will have the opportunity to interact with many different people and gain knowledge about the lifestyle of this historic family.
I look forward to attending again and highly recommend this experience, this has become one of our holiday family traditions.
Winter Wonderland will take place Dec. 2, 3, 9, 10, 16 and 17 in 2016.
