The Lightfest is the largest holiday light show in the Midwest region, displaying nearly 50 animated themed displays and more than 100,000 lights. The annual holiday tradition kicks off with the 8K Fun Run/Walk on Tuesday, November 14 and on Wednesday, November 15 participants will “Bike through the Lights” and get a preview of the wonderful displays, which include an enchanting Celebration of Lights arch, Cecil the Magic Dragon, a large waving polar bear with cubs, an animated Old Glory, animated snowflake arches and more.
The official kickoff will take place on Thursday, November 16 at the Lights On ceremony. There will be a performance by the Livonia Franklin Choir, a fireworks show, and an appearance by Santa. The ceremony will conclude with Executive Evans turning on the switch to kick off the traditional first drive of the 24th annual Lightfest.
The Lightfest runs from November 16 through December 31, with a closure on Sunday, December 25. The cost per vehicle is $5. Visitors enter Lightfest at Hines Drive and Merriman Road in Westland and exit onto Warren Avenue near Telegraph Road in Dearborn Heights.
