TreeRunner Adventure Park at Oakland University – Now Open for the 2020 Season

Nestled in the woods at Adams and Walton is the Treerunner Adventure Park at Oakland University. The park includes five aerial climbing trails at three different challenge levels with the yellow “Sunshine” being the easiest.  The views from the aerial trails are absolutely beautiful as you admire the variety of mature trees.

This was the first time I’ve ever attempted anything quite like this. I am not sure I knew what I was in for but it was awesome!  If I had to describe this new aerial treetop adventure park in three words I would say…exciting, challenging, and thrilling!

The day of my scheduled adventure, I texted my friend and informed her that I’m not a huge fan of heights! She laughed as neither was she but together we would encourage and support each other. Let me just say…there was little room to worry about heights! My mind was too busy completing the obstacle course which in some cases was not easy!

TreeRunner Adventure Park Trails

As we set out on our adventure we started by being fitted with harnesses and being secured to safety cables during an orientation and a practice session with instructors. When it was time to conquer this on our own we started with the yellow “Sunshine” aerial trail. This is the recommended beginner’s course. It gives you a chance to get used to the equipment and it’s not too challenging. While doing this trail we got to experience two fun zip lines and climb through a few simple obstacles. The yellow trail is for ages 7 and up and geared for all levels.

From there we went on to the green-colored trail.  This too was fun and a little more challenging.  It was the blue trails that we found to be hard and extremely rewarding once completed!  There was even a time when I had to tell myself that my mind will give up before my body will give out so don’t listen to my mind and keep on going!

Ziplining

This was my first time ziplining and it was so much fun!  Surprisingly, some of them were rather long!  By the time we finished a rather difficult course, the zip lines were a pleasant and welcome way to end the course. Once I came to the end of the blue obstacle course I had the most rewarding feeling ever!  I did it!  I completed the course!

The Black Diamond is the most challenging course. Three courses took us about three total hours and left us feeling exhausted.   Now that I have experience,  I hope to attempt the Black Diamond course during our next visit.

Finally, if you have children ages 7 and up you need to check out TreeRunner Adventure Park at Oakland University.  Oakland University students, faculty, and staff receive special discounts.
