One of our most favorite fall activities is visiting Three Cedars Farm in Northville. This has been a family tradition since my kids were babies and even now at almost 6 and 7, they still enjoy going. Opening weekend is always near Labor Day and it seems each year they add more attractions. Last year, the train ride was new to us ($4 per person) and the animals are a little different every time, but all of our old favorites are still there too!
There are so many different places for the kids to play and explore and plenty of spots for moms and dads to take cute fall pictures.
You could absolutely spend an entire morning or afternoon here without spending a dollar. The Barnyard Play area is enough to keep everyone happy. However, add a family hayride ($5) to take you around the property back to the 7-acre corn maze and the U-Pick pumpkin patch for more fun! The corn maze is $5.00 per person and 3 and under are free.
From their website: A challenge the whole family will enjoy! As you wind your way through the maze find the 3 cedar trees hidden on the main paths. Each tree will have a marker attached. Find each of the three trees, mark it on your ticket for your chance to win a prize at the end of the season.
The play structure features 4 different slides and a few character face holes for funny pictures. It is near the corn pit, which is always a good time. Around the corn pit is a track to ride the little tractor bikes. Because everything is close in proximity, it makes watching multiple kiddos pretty easy.
What’s a visit to a farm in the fall without donuts and cider? Three Cedars does not disappoint!
The donuts are made fresh daily, right on the farm with a secret family recipe. You can buy just one donut or by the dozen. They also have pasteurized apple cider that is available by the glass or gallon. The Three Cedars Cider and Donut Hut feature:
- Indoor outdoor seating
- Full gallon and half gallon pasteurized cider
- Cinnamon sugar and plain donuts
- Cider slushes
- Hot apple cider
- Carmel apples
- Apple blossoms
- Assortment of Jams
- Apple & pumpkin butter
- Variety of baking mixes
- Mulling spices
On site, there is also an old fashioned Country Store. It features candy and country collectibles. There are plenty of beautiful breakables, so when my kids were super little, we took turns going in to browse all of the amazing decorations. Now, my kids are old enough to enjoy it too.
We’ve been to Three Cedars on super busy and crowded days, but its never felt overwhelming or TOO crowded. There are so many different places to play and see.
