The Robot Garage in Rochester Hills

It’s back! The Robot Garage in Rochester Hills has re-opened in a new, airy, and awesome space.

Tucked into an industrial area near a dance studio, the new location is 4000 square feet and offers plenty of parking and ample space for creative and educational play. It officially opened July 8 and the location in the Village of Rochester Hills Mall is permanently closed, said retail manager Jessica Wood.

The reason for the new space was, well, more space! Wood said Robot Garage needed more room for parties, classes, camps, and other activities.

One thing the new location will have is a coffee bar and snack bar — coming soon, said Wood. The new site also has a large handwashing station with a cool dinosaur Lego mural.

“It’s a great location,” she said. “It’s closer to M-59. We love it here.”

The new location still has a great retail area that has plenty of Lego sets and educational toys as well as larger and brighter open build areas. There is also a large space in the center of the store to do demos and have events. Recently, a Rube Goldberg model was built there, Wood said.

Fall classes start in the new space on Sept. 15 so stay tuned for the schedule.

On a recent weekday, there were families building Legos together and a group of kids enjoying a field trip.

The new Robot Garage in Rochester Hills is located at 1659 W Hamlin Rd, between Crooks and Livernois. It’s open Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. until 6:30 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. and it’s closed Sunday during the summer. Drop-in play closes 30 minutes before closing.

All ages are welcome, but The Robot Garage is generally best for kids 3 and up. The Robot Garage also has a Birmingham location.
