The brick building is very visible with the castle like crown on top. Admission price for both adults and children is $6.00. Free parking is located on the side of the building and in the parking lot behind the Consumer’s Energy building. If you decide to bring a lunch there are places both inside and out to sit and eat.
The Children’s Museum is a well thought out museum where imagination and learning go side by side. It’s really amazing what is packed into this one building!
We took both grandchildren (ages 1 1/2 years and 6 years old). There where plenty of opportunities for the children to play together.
Puppet shows, dressing up for the theater show, and pretending to go for a ride in the carriage all put smiles on their faces.
As well as the two music rooms. It was nice that the two of them could have fun together.
There also were a number of learning experiences that were impressive that even captured the attention of the youngest grandchild.
Interactive experiments had the older children thinking about how everything works.
They each had their favorite. The oldest loved going to the top of the rock climbing wall. Although it was not very tall he kept trying different ways he could get to the top.
A store for the little ones to grocery shop with was a lot of fun for her. She was happy to pick out fruits and vegetables and fill her cart. They also have a cash register where they are able to ring up their purchases when done.
A garden and play area is located on the outside of the building. They use the food grown in the garden for healthy cooking demonstrations. They will also let you pick vegetables with supervision if you ask.
Even though we didn’t stay very long outdoors I was impressed with the activities located outside. The area was enclosed with fencing and included picnic tables, a play house, and large sand box.
We loved coming to The Flint Children’s Museum. It kept the children busy for a couple of hours on a day that was too hot to play outside. This would also be a great place to keep the children busy and learning in the winter or on a rainy day.
