Summer Road Safety Tips Every Parent Needs to Know

Summer is the most enjoyable season on the clock, and most American folks are on the move. Roads are, therefore, a busy scene in summer. This is when driving safety tips pop up.

Why Observe Driving Safety Tips?

Is it worth it to consider driving safety tips? Absolutely! Car accidents are frequent all year round. There were almost 750,000 hit-and-run accidents in 2015, accounting for 11.7 percent of all documented accidents. Car accidents reach their peak when there is more movement on the American highway, like in summer. Ergo, there is a high possibility that these accidents happened in summer.

Here are driving tips that both parents and their teenagers can abide by while on the summer road.

Hands On The Wheel!

A lot of drivers turn up to music when they are driving, especially teenagers. Music is enjoyable and entertaining. However, it is hard to keep your hands on the wheel if a dance song tells you to put your hands in the air and wave them like you don’t care. If you care about your life, you will need to set boundaries.

Setting boundaries is a healthy thing on the road. It is probably a better idea if a teenage driver is driving under the close supervision of a parent or guardian. Playing loud music on the road distracts the driver from paying attention. Playing music on the down-low keeps you focused as every sound on the highway gets captured by your ears.

Don’t Drink And Drive!

Some drivers, adults and even adventurous teenagers, decide to place the bar behind the wheel by drinking and driving. Everyone has at once seen a drunk driver on the road. Drunk driving is as common as it is dangerous. In 2018, 10,511 people died in drunk driving crashes, on average one every 50 minutes. Don’t drink and drive. It’s sound advice that’s easy to remember, and it works when followed. That, however, is the issue. Too many people continue to disregard the warnings and drive after drinking too much. The message is not being received.

Think Of Your Car

If you are a caring person, then you probably care about your car. Reckless driving on the road could leave a driver stranded and left to be fed to the dark. Carjackers and thieves are attracted to stranded vehicles. You could lose your car just because you were not driving properly. Old-timers can recall Jim Morrison, who was a member of the Doors, a rock band. The only car he ever owned was a ’67 Shelby GT 500, and he lost it by reckless driving. If you drive carefully, you arrive alive and safely with your car.

Think Of Hospital Bills

Car accidents add up to hospital bills. They’re typically twofold, car repairing and the more devastating one- landing on a hospital bed.

Hospital bills are expensive. According to the Healthcare Cost And Utilization Project (HCUP), the average hospital stay costs a little over $10,700 in the United States. Keeping your eyes on the road prevents hospital bills. Regularly reminding everyone in the family helps maintain a balanced and healthy wallet.

Summer roads are loaded with endless traffic, so the need to observe driving tips and their implications has never been greater.
