Now that spring is here (assuming 30 degree weather counts as spring) it means a time of renewing, refreshing and cleaning out all of the physical and mental clutter in your life. Here is a checklist to help you kick off spring feeling a little lighter:
Clean Your Friends List If there is someone on your Facebook feed that is constantly bragging and showing off and making you feel unworthy get rid of them or at least unfollow. Being repetitively pelted with images that show a perfect life from a perfect mom with perfect kids, perfect décor, lavish vacations and unrealistic beauty don’t help you feel better about your own life. News flash: no ones life is as perfect as they make it out to be on there anyway.
Clean Your Closet Maybe there is a pair of jeans in there that you haven’t worn since high school or piles of clothes that you’re saving for when you finally lose that weight or gain weight back again. My philosophy is to have a closet of items that make you feel amazing when you put them on and flatter your body shape right now whatever your current size is. If there are pieces in there that make you feel frumpy donate, sell or pass them on and replace them with timeless pieces that you actually feel good about.
Clean Your House Not the most fun thing to be doing but there is something to be said when you tackle even one room and get it looking clean and organized. Start small, maybe just the kids closet or your bedroom. One area or room at a time helps keep you from getting overwhelmed.
Sprout a Fresh Hobby Now that the weather is getting warmer the urge to hibernate is hopefully lessening. Make walks outside more frequent, take a cooking class you have been eyeing, try an outdoor yoga or boot camp class or get together for a moms night out or happy hour to reconnect with friends.
Get Back to Nature Next time you’re at the grocery store bring a bouquet of flowers home to brighten up your space. If you’re into gardening try to get the kids involved in the process. Maybe go to a local nature center or outdoor park and just take in all the fresh, new beauty and enjoy the pick me up of being outdoors.
