“Well I had a recipe, but I didn’t have all the ingredients…. so I improvised.” I have to tell you this happens more times than not at my home. I don’t go shopping to get items for recipes. I shop for things I like. We always have staple items and a few items that were on sale when I bought them.
Today I pulled out sausage from the freezer, having an idea that I would make an apple, onion and sausage dish I always make, except we have no onions. Ok, off to the web to find a recipe. I don’t even know what the recipe was for, but I didn’t have everything (typical) and I ended up subbing and adding, and I got this fab soup that was supposed to be a hearty sauce for rice. It’s all good. This was spectacular.
So here is the recipe for you to enjoy:
1 package (~13 oz) of smoked sausage cut into small pieces
1 cup of fresh spinach
1 can of sliced carrots
1 can of chicken with rice condensed soup (I know you think I am crazy now)
1 can of water
1 8 ounce package of cream cheese
1 tablespoon of minced garlic.
Place all of the ingredients into your slow cooker (liquids first) and cook on low for about 4 to 6 hours, stirring often in the beginning, to ensure the cream cheese mixes in.
We served our soup with a delicious homemade red wine bread. YUMMY.
Enjoy!
