I recently had the opportunity to try out several pizzas at Pie Five in Southfield, which is located at 24532 W 12 Mile Road, on the corner of 12 Mile and Telegraph. Pie Five offers a huge selection of specialty pizzas. The BBQ Chicken which has bbq sauce, cheddar, chopped cilantro, red onions, and grilled chicken which was served on a classic pan crust was my favorite.
When you arrive at Pie Five you will see their menu on the wall. Take time to pick a specialty pizza, or create your own masterpiece.
Pick your crust: Pie Five offers classic pan, artisan thin, whole wheat thin and gluten free crusts. My favorite by far is the classic pan crust, since I like a thicker crust.
Pick your sauce: so many to choose from, tuscan marinara, bbq sauce, alfredo, olive oil and buffalo ranch are currently available.
Pick your toppings: You can select a specialty pizza or create your own, the pizza specialist will add the toppings (28 to choose from) to your individual pizza and then it goes into the oven for 145 seconds.
Enjoy: Your pizza will be ready in just under 2.5 minutes and can be enjoyed with a huge selection of beverages, including bottled soda, or select your favorite from the Coke Freestyle machine. Is pizza not your thing? That is okay, Pie Five offers tasty salads and desserts too.
My opinion: the pizza was my favorite of the fast fired, fast casual pizzas that I have tried. The classic pan crust really made it for me. However, I attended with a guest who was gluten free and she advises that the way they apply their sauce can lead to cross contamination, so if you have celiac disease, the bbq is your best choice as it comes from a bottle.
Pie Five is coming soon to these Metro Detroit cities:
