Snow may be on the ground right now, and summer may seem so far away. But somehow, summer always creeps up. This year I have already booked some of my kids’ summer activities. This is why I’m finding summer camps early this year. If you are searching for an amazing “STEM summer camp near me”, then check out Classroom Antics.
While researching summer camps for our round up I noticed that most camps have already opened registrations. Surprisingly, some camps are already full. Sure, I can wait until April or May, but I’ve found that the better camps are usually full by that time, and discounts aren’t available that close to summer. So this month, I started researching camp options, and I found the perfect camp for my kids to attend this summer!
Stem Summer Camp
One category that I’ve overlooked in the past has been STEM camps (and STEAM camps). These camps are usually technology-focused with elements of math, computer science, and art. If your child likes technology, LEGO, Minecraft, or YouTube, they will love becoming a creator in one of their camps. One STEAM summer camp that stood out was Classroom Antics.
Classroom Antics is an educational enrichment provider offering fun, educational STEAM-focused programs for kids 7-13 years old. Their weeklong summer camps provide a variety of STEAM activities, including video game design, robotics, animation, video production, and coding. This means that ALL my children could attend the same week of camp, but they can attend different programs within the camp. Naomi, who loves LEGO and Roblox, can take their LEGO Bots and Game Builders camps. Rosaleigh and Carlyn, who love acting and Minecraft, are excited about the Minecraft Coding and TubeStars video production camps. Their camps are offered in the morning, afternoon, or full-day. So, I can drop-off and pick-up all my kids at the same location!
Classroom Antics STEAM Summer Camp
Classroom Antics instructors are actual teachers — professional educators with classroom experience. You can call me silly, but I sometimes worry about programs using high-school students to watch over my kids. I can be a momma bear, and having a real teacher in their summer camp does matter to me.
The max size of each Classroom Antics camp is 12 children. And each child is provided dedicated equipment to use for camp. This means that Naomi has enough LEGO motors and bricks to build her own robots, and Rosaleigh and Carlyn have a laptop and webcam to record themselves in TubeStars. If they want to work together, they can, but they can also work independently if they feel more comfortable that way. I don’t have to worry about having my children share technology equipment with another child they don’t know at camp.
STEM Summer Camp Near Me
And lastly, they are very close to home. With summer camp locations throughout Oakland County, I found that their location in Royal Oak was practically in my backyard. They also offer stem summer camps in Auburn Hills, Clarkston, Northville, Troy, Walled Lake, and West Bloomfield.
