Milford Farmers’ Market

Beginning on May 7, the streets of downtown Milford will come alive with the
sights, scents and sounds of its bountiful annual event, the Milford Farmers’
Market
. The fragrances of freshly grown
and prepared foods will fill the air, welcoming the community to shop, visit and
enjoy live music and family fun.
From 3-8 p.m. every Thursday through Oct. 15,
market-goers will gather on East Liberty Street to celebrate the season and
support local farmers and artisans. “The market is a burst of life for the
community after a long winter,” said Kelley Kirchner, marketing and events
coordinator for the Milford Farmers’ Market. “It’s more than just shopping for
vegetables. Neighbors and friends come out for live music every week while
taking in the sensations of the market; the sounds, the fragrances, the flavors
and the vibrant colors.”
A colorful array of local products will be offered at
the market. Market-goers will enjoy perusing fresh foods such as Michigan
produce, artisan breads, jams and kettle corn, as well as gifts like goats’ milk
soap, locally-made children’s clothing and garden ornaments. Community favorite
vendors will return this year, including Great Harvest
Bread Company
, Diana’s Heirloom
Produce, Christine’s Natural Soaps and so much more.
Throughout the season, different varieties of fresh
Michigan produce become available based on natural harvest times. Greens, crisp
asparagus, tart rhubarb and bright flowers will be among the first Michigan
crops shoppers will find at the market. Guests will also enjoy a wide selection
of other items, like homemade granola, baked goods, herbs and potted
plants.
This weekly event offers family fun with kids’ events
and activities, in addition to offering a convenient way to purchase great

market streets each Thursday evening from 5-7:30 p.m., including fan favorites
the Delivery Boys and Half Whacked—local Milford bands—as well as Austin Scott
and Julie Haven.
A community affair with solid local roots, the market is
completely volunteer-run. Residents and visitors from nearby communities embrace
the market as a gathering space, coming out of their homes to visit with
neighbors, shop and enjoy restaurants downtown and performances in the park. The
market annually inspires a huge outpouring of support from the
community.
“The community comes out in droves to support the
farmers’ market each week,” said Ann Barnette, executive director of the Milford
Downtown Development Authority. “From the planning and execution to the
attendance and participation, the market is a grassroots project, and we’re
fortunate to have a passionate community surrounding the weekly
event.”
The Milford Farmers’ Market is located on East Liberty
Street between South Main and Union streets. Please visit the website for
