Great Wolf Lodge continues to be one of our favorite places to visit when we travel. Earlier this month we traveled out to New York to visit family and experience NYC. On the way back we decided to stop by the newly renovated location in the Pocono Mountains, Pennsylvania. The location is conveniently located right of I-80. It is just minutes off of the expressway, making the pit stop a perfect place to have some fun on the way home. Great Wolf Lodge Pocono Mountains provided my family with three Paw Passes in order to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own. Your experience may differ.
Great Wolf Lodge PA Updates
Recently Great Wolf Lodge underwent a multi-million dollar renovation at their Pocono Mountains Resort location. The transformation included updates to their guest rooms, new family attractions, food service options, and more. Everything looks amazing and brand new.
The guest rooms even received a floor to ceiling update. With a change to the color scheme, new beds, new flooring, and even an updated take on the Northwoods theme, these rooms look amazing.

The Attractions
One of the new attractions at Great Wolf Lodge Pocono is Oliver’s Mining Company. Families can explore Moonstone mine and learn about mining in this immersive experience. After the adventure, guests can use pans to shift through silt and sand to find their own gemstones.
If your children are into Great Wolf Lodge’s signature MagiQuest adventure game, they will immediately notice the updates. For my older two children, MagiQuest is what sets GWL apart from other waterparks. They love to wind down at the end of the day finding ruins and going on quests. Here is a fun tip: we have a rule that the kids have to use the stairs in their quests.
The Illumination Station is another great new experience. The girls tried this out a couple of times and had an amazing time. Basically, they enter a room with a lot of buttons that light up. Hit as many as you can as they light up to score points. Work alone, play as a team, or compete against each other.
The Howlers Peak Ropes course will test your balance as you climb through obstacles. It is important to realize that guests must wear closed toed shoes on this attraction.
The fun doesn’t stop there, Great Wolf Lodge offers many more attractions. Such as Ten Paw Bowling, Northern Lights Arcade, Howl at the Moon Glow Golf, Build a Bear Workshop, and more.
Great Wolf Lodge PA Food and Refreshments
If you are looking for ways to refuel, then Great Wolf Lodge has you covered. They offer many different options to satisfy your hunger. Likewise, the newly renovated Great Wolf Candy Company has a variety of delicious and unique bulk candy selections that will cure your sweet tooth.
If smooth and creamy is more your thing, then check out the newly added Ben & Jerry’s ice cream parlor. It is located next door to the refurbished Hungry as a Wolf.
Wake up with a great cup of coffee at the new Dunkin Donuts location. Furthermore, you can enjoy a buffet breakfast at The Loose Moose Family Kitchen. (They also offer both lunch and dinner). Inside the waterpark, you will find Buckets incredible Craveable’s Grizzly Rob’s Bar, as well as Grizzly Jack’s Bar and Grill.
and finally…. the waterpark
I’m always impressed with each experience at Great Wolf Lodge. However, the waterpark really is why we visit. We all love the water, this obviously makes GWL the perfect vacation destination for us. Specifically, I love how there are a variety of activities for every skill level and age. I also love how they don’t force children to wear life jackets, they leave that choice up to the parents.
Great Wolf Lodge Pa offers a wide variety of slides. Guests can enjoy the very mild toddler slides in Whooping Hollow to the wild Double Barrel Drop. A few of the slides have a height requirement. However, most of them are accessible for most of the guests. This was great for Naomi who wanted to ride everything.
I personally love the wave pool. While Carlyn spent most of her time on the Big Foot Pass. Hubby’s favorite was the big bucket at Fort Mackenzie while Rosa enjoyed relaxing in Crooked Creek lazy river.
