The Pontiac United Education Coalition is hosting an end of the summer celebration and resource fair for families and students from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 19. This free event – Give Me S’more Summer – includes free s’mores provided by Riley’s Catering, educational and school information, literacy resources, fun, games and giveaways. The Metro Detroit YMCA will be onsite hosting entertaining activities in which attendees may participate.
“Supporting families, empowering them to support their students and ensuring open communication with up-to-date information have always been important, but with the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic these things have become crucial, which is why the Pontiac United Education Coalition was formed,” said Pontiac Regional Chamber Chair Damany A. Head. “This event with all its resources will start families, schools and students off on the right foot for this upcoming school year.”
The coalition was created when the Pontiac Regional Chamber of Commerce teamed up with all the schools in Pontiac (public, private and public charter) and some community partners to engage Pontiac families and schools during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
The event is located at the Center for Success, 245 E Rundell St., Pontiac MI 48342 and registration is requested by going to pontiacrc.com/event/smoresummer.
