Whether you are a nature enthusiast, or just looking for a good place to take a walk with your family, Farmington Hills Nature Center is the perfect destination for nature loving families. The facility is located within Heritage Park, a 211-acre park within Farmington Hills. Guests can enjoy the nature center as well as 4.5 miles of trails.

The Farmington Hills Nature Center is located on Farmington Road, between 10 mile and 11 mile in Farmington Hills. The address is 24915 Farmington Road.

FREE Public Drop-in Hours are now available:

  • Tue through Sun from Noon until 4pm
  • limited to 2 households OR a max of 10 people at a time
  • No appointments or fees during drop-in hours
  • Masks and social distancing are required
  • First come, first served
  • If capacity is reached, the door will be locked and visitors will be added to a wait list to enter.
  • Visitors are required to sign-in upon arrival
  • Activity bins will NOT be available during drop-in hours

The Nature Center is CLOSED on City Holidays and Mondays through March 31.

More About Farmington Hills Nature Center

The Nature Center building is a 2,325 facility that offers life sized nature exhibits and habitats. The building is home to over 40 animals as well as a bird viewing area, and library. Guests can enjoy an up close view of the aquariums with native fish, turtles as well as a bunny.

Heritage Park

In addition to the nature center, guests can enjoy the Heritage Park playground and splash pad (in the summer). The park is also home to a group picnic shelter, in-ground grills, two sand volleyball courts, an in-line hockey rink and six horseshoe pit. Additionally, they offer summer camps, educational programs, parties, parents night out education outreach, a nature trail live animals (some you can touch), events and a picnic area.

Heritage Park is also home to the Spicer House, Stables Art Studio, Day Camp and Amphitheatre buildings.

The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the animals as well as nature. Finally, make sure to protect your skin, bring your own food, and walking shoes with you.
