Family Sensory Days – Royal Oak

  • Description: Every 1st and 3rd Mondays in November and December the bowling alley offers dimmed lighting, quieter music, and special amenities for an enriching and fun outing for the whole family.  Staff who are sensitive to those with special needs. Weighted vests & noise-cancelling headphones, available free of charge. We are working on becoming a Certified Autism Center (IBCCES).

Grades K-8 DROP YOUR CHILD OFF AND ENJOY A NIGHT OUT ON THE TOWN! Register to bring your kids to The Robot Garage for a Kid’s Night Out and they will LOVE that you’re leaving them behind for a night to yourself. Our amazing staff will lead LEGO and robotic activities for ages K-8. Parents are subject to a late fee of $1 per minute for any child who is not picked up within 10 minutes of the end of the event.

  • Description: Join the OAC and Pewabic Pottery for a tile workshop. Pewabic Street Team will provide blank tiles and supporting materials for you create your own tile to keep or give as a gift.**Tiles will take four to six weeks for processing and may be picked up at Pewabic Pottery.

Turkey Day at the OAC – Detroit

  • Description: 12:30-2:30 p.m.: drop-in activity and crafts. 2:30-3:30 p.m.: interactive presentation. Besides being the unofficial symbol of the Thanksgiving season, the wild turkey is also a symbol of conservation success in the United States. Join us for a the OAC Turkey Day to take a closer look at the wild turkey in Michigan. Learn about where they live, what they eat, the noises they make, and even take the opportunity to feel some wings and feathers from real wild turkeys.

Katie is a hard workin' momma who loves to be where the people are. She has a daughter named Charlotte (almost 4 years old), a son named Silas (19 months old), and her husband's name is Jeff (married 6 years). She graduated from Madonna University with a degree in Broadcast and Cinema Arts. She shared her love and passion for journalism at 9&10 News, Northern Michigan's News Leader for 8 years as a reporter and anchor.
