MineCraft Night – Birmingham

  • Description: Come hang out and play MineCraft on our custom server.There will be both survival and creative areas to enjoy either with individual play or with friends. Get your own space on our server so your work will be saved for the future or play on our group server with other kids who attend this event.   • Description: Learn about Michigan’s history in the exciting “Michigan History Nightmares” series by author and educator Lynne Smyles. Lynne wrote the series to enhance third and fourth graders’ understanding of their state’s history. Join us for a reading that will follow five students as they test new quantum computers that transport them to a parallel universe where they encounter terrifying challenges, including quicksand and cannonballs, as they learn the history of their state. Book sales and signing opportunity to follow.

March 15 Archery: Try-It! – Detroit

  • Description: Two sessions: 12:15-12:45 p.m. or 12:45-1:15 p.m. This is your opportunity to give archery a try. This 30-minute program is designed as a brief introduction to archery. Participants will learn to safely handle a bow and shoot several arrows. Participants must be 8 years of age or older. All equipment is provided. Preregistration is not available for this program. Limited to 12 participants per half-hour session. Participants must sign up onsite at the Outdoor Adventure Center on the day the program is offered. Sign-up will begin at noon and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Minors must have a parent or guardian sign a waiver before they participate.

Trilobite Treasures: Arthropods of Michigan’s Ancient Seas – Detroit

  • Description: Trilobites lived, thrived and died millions of years before the age of dinosaurs. Paleo Joe presents these fine Paleozoic creatures in a way that tells a story of the prehistoric life in the ancient seas. He provides a unique snapshot of life in the ancient seas from 250 to 500 million years ago. Explore the life and death of these creatures once so plentiful during the Cambrian period that it was called the Age of Trilobites. Paleo Joe provides an excellent look into the ancient world of the Paleozoic seas. We recommend joining the fun at the start time. We may not be able to accommodate those who arrive more than 15 minutes into the activity.
