7 Lucky Ways to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day from Home!

We could all use a little luck o’ the Irish, so why not celebrate with shenanigans as a family?  Try your luck with these 7 family fun ideas this March!

1. Coin Toss

Coin toss! Grab “gold coins” and a lucky hat from your local dollar or craft store to play. Take turns with your child tossing coins into the hat from different distances. Keep score by creating a tally mark chart for some fun math learning.

2. Rainbow Fun

Explore the colors of the rainbow by mixing washable paint. For a less mess activity, invite children to scoop paint into plastic baggies, cover seal with packing tape and squish!

3. Read a Fun Story

Read Leprechaun tales like “How to Catch a Leprechaun” https://www.amazon.com/How-Catch-Leprechaun-Adam-Wallace/dp/1728249309  or “Pete the Cats Great Leprechaun Chase” https://www.amazon.com/Pete-Cat-Leprechaun-Patricks-Fold-Out/dp/0062404504

4. Silly McGilly

Start a Silly McGilly tradition! On March 1st, leprechauns take their vacation from Ireland and visit other parts of the world to enjoy  their trickery. Put your very own Silly McGilly in the window each night to invite a leprechaun visit. They might turn your favorite breakfast green or leave a few gold coins behind. 5. Do an Irish Jig

Try out an Irish dance class from home with Motor City Irish Dance! First classes are usually a free trial and there are classes for all ages. https://dancestudio-pro.com/online/classes.php?account_id=12796&fbclid=IwAR1jYfS1c8LaHkjZD5lIrF8m6dIzg6GC7tvJZbv1y4Pmi-KN29a8UkvFyeU

6. Make a Special Treat

Explore patterning with a leprechauns favorite treat, Lucky Charms! Sometimes, it’s ok to play with your food. Ask your preschool age or older child, “I’m wondering what kind of pattern you can make with the Lucky Charms before we eat?”

7. Check out These Bag Pipers
