The Animals at The Reptarium Utica
The newly expanded 6,000 square foot space offers visitors the opportunity to see roughly 200 different species of animals, including snakes, lizards, alligators, and more. From rare and exotic species to familiar favorites, each animal captivates visitors with its unique characteristics and behaviors. During public tours, guests will be able to interact with several pre-selected animals. However, if you have your heart set on having an up-close encounter with a special animal, simply ask one of the staff members for assistance, they will accommodate you as long as the animals can come out of their enclosure.
For those seeking a more immersive encounter, The Reptarium offers up close experiences that allow guests to interact with select reptiles under the supervision of knowledgeable staff. These experiences provide a hands-on opportunity to learn about and appreciate these fascinating creatures up close.
Visitors can enhance their experience by exploring the variety of extras available at the Gift Shop for an additional fee. Options include indulging in a Fish Spa treatment and participating in animal feedings. You may also get the chance to engage in exclusive encounters with fascinating creatures such as Drogo the Sloth, Brillo the Six Banded Armadillo, Javier the Capybara, and Sid the African Crested Porcupine. Hours: The Reptarium offers visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of reptiles from Thursday through Sunday with select Wednesdays as well. Thursday hours are from 4 pm until 8 pm. Friday and Saturday hours are from 4 pm until 9 pm. Finally, Sunday hours are from 3 pm until 7 pm. It is important to note that the Reptarium will close during business hours for special events.

General admission prices (as of 4/7/24) are $14.99 for adults (ages 12 and up) and $11.99 for children (ages 2 to 11). Children under 2 years old enjoy free admission, and reservations are not required.

The Owner Brian Barczyk
The Reptarium, founded by Brian Barczyk, reflects his passion for reptiles. Barczyk is highly respected in the reptile community for his expertise and dedication to education. As a dedicated daily vlogger since May 10, 2016, Barczyk shared a life rich with diverse animal encounters through his YouTube channel. His participation in the television series “Venom Hunters” and the production of the documentary “Brian In The Wild” in South Africa showcased his commitment to wildlife education. Additionally, he initiated a podcast, founded a convention for animal content creators called “AnimalConUSA”, and developed The Reptarium.
Despite facing a diagnosis of inoperable Pancreatic Cancer in March 2023, Barczyk’s determination and the unwavering support of the YouTube community encouraged him to continue sharing his journey. With renewed commitment, Barczyk embarked on developing the expanded facility, named Legasea Aquarium, adjacent to The Reptarium. This endeavor symbolizes resilience and the pursuit of dreams during challenging times, with invaluable support from the #ReptileArmy community. In January 2024, the Reptarium Team, along with the Barczyk family, announced the passing of their beloved founder Brian Barczyk. More than the guiding light of the organization, Barczyk’s fervent passion for reptiles and wildlife, along with his steadfast dedication to education, has touched innumerable hearts and minds globally.
Legasea Aquarium Coming in June of 2024
Excitement abounds as the grand opening of the brand new 30,000 square foot facility, The Legasea Aquarium, is coming soon! Combining the allure of amazing reptiles and mammals with the enchantment of a new aquarium, this forthcoming attraction promises an unforgettable experience. Although still under construction, with an anticipated opening in June 2024, an exact opening date remains to be scheduled. Stay tuned for announcements on social media regarding individual General Admission pricing, while one-year memberships are already available for purchase on the website. Pricing for events is yet to be determined, but those interested in receiving updates on special events can fill out a form on the website for future outreach.
