Dive into Summer Reading With National Geographic Ocean Animals Books

It’s summer and the perfect time to sit back and relax with a great book, right?  Reading over the summer is a great way to keep your kids learning and thinking and National Geographic has two great books about Ocean Animals which will keep your children interested and thinking.

Disclosure: Metro Detroit Mommy received these books and a Dory Plush in exchange for this promotional plush.  All opinions are genuine and my own.  Your experience may differ.

With Disney’s release of Finding Dory many children may find a new interest in fish and ocean animals.  National Geographic has two fantastic books that can fuel your child’s desire to learn all about their favorite fishy friend and more.

Ocean Animals: Who’s Who in the Deep Blue ($12.99, ages 8-12) is an oversized book and it needs to be!  Featuring huge, stunning underwater photographs this book covers it all — from life in coral reefs to sharks and rays, to bizarre creatures of the deep and even sea birds — and all the favorites from Finding Dory including, sea lions, octopus, beluga whales, whale sharks and of course clown fish and Dory herself — blue tangs!

This book is packed full of great information in short two page spreads that make it the perfect book for rides in the car, nightly summer reading or use it like a reference book when the kids ask you about something like Sea Turtles.

Ocean Animals Sticker Activity Book (ages 4-8, $6.99) has over 1,000 cool stickers of the most popular, adorable, ferocious and weird ocean animals, like dolphins, coral, fish, sea turtles, seals and more. Also included are skill-building puzzles and mazes, spelling and pattern games, drawing, photos, facts, and other activities that will keep kids you entertained (and learning) for hours on end. Perfect for road trips and plane rides!

This book is great for younger children and full of fun activities and facts.  Both of my girls loved both of these books.  Rosa loved to randomly pick a page from the Ocean Animals: Who’s Who in the Deep Blue book to read each night before she goes to bed.  Carlyn likes to work on the activities in the Ocean Animals Sticker Activity Book in the car, while waiting for food to come at a restaurant, or just whenever.

We generally love the books in the National Geographic series.  Recently, we went out to eat and Rosa announced that babies have taste buds in their cheeks, a fact she learned in the Weird But True book series. The books cover such a wide range of topics and make learning about science fun.

Have you read any of the books in the kids National Geographic series?  If so which are your favorites?
