I received tickets to facilitate this review. All opinions are 100% my own.

My ten-year-old daughter is a huge Diary of a Wimpy Kid fan. She is always reading the book series. In this film, the cast is entirely new! Would Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul live up to expectations?

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul Review

In the film, the family sets off on a four day trip to MeeMaw’s 90th birthday celebration. Will the family survive that long in the car together? Let’s just say you will be laughing because everything that can go wrong does!

Personally, I was worried about the new cast. My daughter was quite upset when she initially learned that the cast had aged out.

It was quite unexpected to see Alicia Silverstone (Clueless) play the mom. I grew up around the same time as her. She did a great job playing the role. I was most impressed with Roderick. He nailed the role playing the older brother. I think you will love him!

My whole family agreed that this cast did a great job! Keira liked the new cast better! That is a hard feat to accomplish!

Should you see this film? My whole family enjoyed it. Keira, of course, gave it 5 stars and has already asked to see it again. We will just have to buy it when it comes to DVD. The rest of us gave it a 3.5. It was, of course, a bit predictable at times but it really is funny. Also, has a good moral.

I would say this movie is okay for anyone that is old enough to enjoy the books. I don’t remember anything not being family-friendly.
