Roller Skating in Metro Detroit

I’m an 80’s child so I clearly remember those roller-skating days.  My skates had hot pink wheels with pom poms dangling from the laces and every Friday night my friends and I headed straight to the roller rink. It was the place to be!

Skate World of Troy is a step back in time. Nothing has changed.  If you’re familiar with skating in the 80’s and 90’s you remember the disco lights, arcade games, concessions, and lockers!
Fast forward many years and I found myself on roller skates for the first time in ages. I am back at it with my own children and it’s a blast from the past!  The kids love it! I mean what is there not to like about music, lights, and skating! Plus roller rinks make a great hangout for the entire family.  There’s entertainment for all ages.  Your one year old can run around and pretend to place arcade games and the older ones enjoy burning energy while skating to the music. Everyone is sure to have a good time.

At Skate World of Troy you can rent regular roller skates for $3.00 or inline skates for $5.00.  Most general admission prices are $6.00.  Be sure to check their website or call for open skate hours. For somewhere around $10.00 a person you can have a few hours of wholesome fun and get some exercise.  You will surely leave with a smile on your face.  It’s just that much fun!

If you are looking for a cool place to host a birthday party or fundraiser, keep roller skating in mind.
