Necessity is said to the mother of invention, in this case, it has brought two of our favorite brands together in the first ever co-branded Applebee’s – IHOP restaurant. When the Courtyard by Mariott approached Team Schostak about opening an Applebee’s in their hotel, situated in the heart of Detroit, the hotel had one stipulation, the menu must include breakfast. Since Applebee’s doesn’t offer breakfast, they sought out the popular IHOP chain to create a space where craft beers, burgers, and pancakes can be ordered.
The newest restaurant in the TEAM Schostak chain is located in Detroit’s Millender Center, directly across from the Renaissance Center.
So many features make this Applebee’s – IHOP location unique, from the daily breakfast buffet, the soup and salad lunch bar, to the grab and go Coffee Bar, this new restaurant has some great features that are sure to please hotel guests, downtown Detroit visitors and residents. The restaurant features classic spaces for dining that reflect the style of both IHOP and your neighborhood Applebee’s and can accommodate up to 300 guests. A conference room and lounge area are also available to rent for groups and parties.
The IHOP opens at 6:30 a.m. during the week (7 a.m. on weekends) while Applebee’s will open at 11 a.m. The almost 12,00 square-foot restaurant will close at midnight daily and at 11pm on Sundays.
I love that the kid’s menu also offers the best of both worlds and healthier menu options. And for a limited time, Applebee’s is offering $1.99 kids meals every Tuesday. Each adult menu item purchased will qualify two children to eat at this great rate. Paired with their 2 for $20 meal deal, a family of six could easily dine out for less than $30. WOW.
The clubhouse grille is an amazing sandwich. Made with sliced ham and turkey, Cheddar, Swiss, two strips of Applewood-smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato on toasted Potato bread. The combo mayo and honey BBQ sauce is the key to it’s greatness… YUM.
Hubby went with the healthy choice of a grilled chicken breast with broccoli and green beans. A very tasty option for those who want to watch their caloric intake.
We all shared the Blue Ribbon Brownie which was AMAZING. The brownie was so moist and melted in my mouth.
The iconic neighborhood bar is an integral part of the Applebee’s side of this restaurant, complete with a great selection of draft beers featuring some local craft brands.
What I love about this space is the Corktown Alley feel of the lights that are strung in this space and the lounge area. The lights and large windows that bring in a ton of natural light make me feel like I’m outside, with the comfort of air conditioning.
