Aqua-Tots Swim Schools – Program Overview
We have been swimming with Aqua-Tots Swim Schools in Troy for four years now. Wow… it’s been that long. I love the beach and swimming in pools, so water safety became a top priority with our children as we spend a lot of time in and around water.
The year-round program at Aqua-Tots Swim Schools provides a Safety First approach to learning. Starting at a very young age, safe boundaries are emphasized multiple times per class. Children learn they must have permission to enter the pool. Students progress through eight swimming levels ranging from parent/child classes that start at four months of age and progress through refining skills in Swim Club.
Children also learn other safety rules such as safe entry and exit, they learn how to float on their back, and to swim to the wall after immersion. Children are also encouraged to swim with and without goggles.
As children progress through the program, children learn breath control, basic strokes, depth perception, and other skills that encourage them to become an independent swimmer.
Once a child becomes an independent swimmer, classes focus on improving their breath control, swimming strokes, endurance, and treading water.
And finally, when a child becomes a proficient swimmer, they can join swim club, where each one hour class focuses on a specific skill and swimming endurance.
Aqua-Tots Swim Schools of Michigan also offers specialized programs for adults, swimmers with special needs (the Snap Program), fast track, multiple classes per week, birthday parties, open swim and special events throughout the year.
Over the years with Aqua-Tots, we have seen program curriculum changes that incorporate the most current and effective teaching methods. They continually strive to be flexible to the needs of their clients while providing the highest quality service in the industry.
Finally, the reason we love Aqua-Tots, is the employees and the culture that is promoted within this business. We walk in the door and there are at least two to three employees who greet us with a genuine warm smile, say hello, they make my children (& me) feel special. They engage in real conversations, a few that we have known will give the girls a hug, a high five or make a silly face. They care about the families they serve.
Teaching kids to swim has been the foundation of Aqua-Tots since they began. And today they still take special care to make sure their swim schools are a welcoming, comfortable and inviting place for kids of all ages at our Detroit area locations including Canton, Novi, Sterling Heights, Troy, Auburn Hills and Farmington Hills.
